Good morning Paxton Tigers! Thank you for being such awesome students and parents during the student pick up day. It was great seeing all of you and really hard to not give you a high-five, fist pump or hug. This has definitely been hard and new for all of us, but Tigers are known for their toughness, so hang in there. If you need anything, please email me or call the school. Our school community is strong. Stay Tough Tigers!!! Mr. Dack

Dear Paxton Families, Hard to believe we have been out of school for a week and we have two more weeks to go. Paxton teachers have been working hard to provide meaningful education for students while at home and they will be sending that home soon or you will pick it up on Monday. Students take it easy on your parents because this is new for them as well and they need your support. Parents we are here for you also, so please don't hesitate to reach out to us whenever you need something. I am optimistic that more positives than negatives will be the result of all this and our school community will only be stronger for it. You are constantly on our minds and We Miss You! Go Tigers! Paxton Community Members It is a very exciting time of year due to the fact we have many activities that are wrapping up and just beginning. One quick item that I wanted to address is the new format for District basketball. Last year, the NSAA membership voted to change the way that schools will qualify for the NSAA State Championships in the sports of volleyball, girls basketball, and boys basketball. This method was adopted earlier in the larger classes, and now is being used in Class D1 and D2. Prior to this year, to qualify for the State Tournament in the sports mentioned above in Class D1 and D2, you played out Sub-Districts, and then you were matched up with your neighboring Sub-District for the District Final. The winner of that game would advance to the State Tournament. Also, two teams that did not win their Districts, would advance based on their wildcard average. With the new system that is in place, we are still playing our Sub-Districts as normal, based on geographical location of the schools. The change is now with the District Final format and advancing to the State Tournament. There will be 12 Sub-District winners that will advance to the District Finals. In addition to those 12 teams, the next four non-Sub-District winners with the highest wildcard point average will also advance to the District Finals, giving us a total of 16 teams. District finals will then be matched up based on their wildcard average where #1 will play #16, #2 vs. #15, #3 vs. #14, #4 vs. #13, #5 vs. #12, #6 vs. #11, #7 vs. #10, and #8 vs. #9. This seeding is statewide and is not based on the schools geographic location. The location of these games will be placed as centrally located between the two schools as possible. In addition, there will be no wildcard teams that will advance to the State Tournament. A school must win their District Final game in order to qualify for the State Tournament. This year, the Girls Basketball District Final will be played on Friday, February 22. The Boys District Final will be played on Saturday, February 23. If you have any questions regarding the new format for volleyball, girls basketball, and boys basketball, and the qualification to the State Tournament, please do not hesitate to contact me at the school. Thanks again for all of your support of our students! It is truly amazing to see how involved all of our students are in the extra-curricular activities that we offer, which all begins with the support of our community. -- Scott Jorgensen, CAA Paxton Consolidated Schools Paxton, NE

Black Out Cancer Fundraiser - At the Paxton tournament on December 20, participating teams including Mullen, Paxton, Garden County, and Maywood-Hayes Center, are going to have a Black Out Cancer Fundraiser tournament. The teams will wear their Black Out Cancer shirts and proceeds will go to cancer research or to someone in the community. Black Out Cancer has raised $15,000 for the fight against cancer in the past two years with the help of high schools from across the state. We want you to join the fight against cancer. How It Works Participating teams and their fans wear the same Black Out Cancer shirts during basketball warm ups and sell the shirts to their fans. It is very similar to a “Pink Out” in volleyball, but schools from across the state wear the shirts on the same week. This year the Black Out Cancer week will be from Monday, December 17th through Saturday, December 22nd. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the fight against cancer. This is a 100% volunteer effort by Adam Stolzer and Chase Hoffschneider. Shirts are sold and the donations go towards fighting cancer. Donations will be given to the University of Nebraska Medical Center for Cancer Research or the donations will be given to someone who is battling Cancer. How do shirt sales work? Shirt sales will close on Friday, December 7th. Online Order Form: http://www.mrbtees.com/copy-of-black-out-cancer-shirts All T-Shirts will be delivered to Paxton Schools on December 17 and sent home with your student. Why do we do this? Cancer affects everyone in Nebraska. It is impossible for someone to not know an individual who has been directly affected by cancer. We want to raise funds to fight this horrible disease and show cancer patients and their families across our great state that not only their community supports them, but all of Nebraska. I hope you decide to join our fight against Cancer. If you have any questions, please contact the school or you can email Chase at BlackOutCancerNE@gmail.com

Bubbles! What a fascinating way to end a year of guidance! Keely Armstrong, Mrs. Meyer's school-to-career student during 7th period all year, created a Bubble Extravaganza for the end of the year elementary guidance class. Each elementary class had the opportunity to go out to the garage to enjoy an hour of pure Bubble Magic! Patience, allowing people enough personal space, problem-solving, creativity, math, science and pure fun were all the objectives for this event. Keely was assisted in the Bubble Festival by Nate Demilt, Tanner Baltzell, Tatum Florom, Caleb Perlinger, Michael McBride, and Mrs. Meyer. Students were individually recognized for exhibiting exemplary leadership, patience, engagement, problem-solving, and great attitude. What a perfect way to end a fascinating year!
