Paxton Consolidated Schools Foundation       

The Paxton Consolidated Schools Foundation was established to encourage, solicit and receive gifts for the benefit of the Paxton Consolidated Schools and its students and graduates and to use those charitable contributions to support current and emerging needs. In this age of property tax lids, reducing state funding and other financial trends, private supplementation of educational services is more important than ever.  For example, local scholarships are making it possible for middle income families to send their children to college when they don't otherwise qualify for federal or state grants.

The Paxton Consolidated Schools Foundation is an ideal way for alumni and other interested people to remember their school and community with a gift.  The funds will help guarantee that the children of the Paxton community will continue to receive the quality education that the Paxton Schools are known for and continue to provide.  The Foundation affirms and promotes the importance and assurance of better education with the Paxton Consolidated Schools.

The Paxton Consolidated Schools Foundation is a Nebraska Nonprofit Corporation and an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) organization. It is a separate organization that neither uses or replaces the school district's regular sources of tax revenue.  Therefore, the Foundation will provide a vehicle for people to make tax-deductible gifts to support the Paxton Consolidated Schools for specific school betterment projects such as scholarships, teacher recognitions, material needs and student recognitions. Examples of allowed contributions include:

  • Direct gifts of cash or securities
  • Memorial gifts to honor relatives
  • Deferred gifts through bequests, trusts, or life insurance policies
  • Special gifts to support a particular program designated by the donor
  • Charitable remainder trusts that provide the donor with income during his/her lifetime

The Foundation presently has 6 members on the Board of Directors.   The current members and officers are: Cathy Fox – President, Lindley Thompson - Vice President, Jennifer Peterson – Secretary, Lisa Rhodes – Treasurer, Cory Holm – Member, Linda Gries - Member.

The board of directors would like to give a special Thank-You to Shaylene (Suhr) Smith, a PHS graduate, as she continues to donate her time and talents providing all the essential legal and tax advice to the Paxton Consolidated Schools Foundation.  We are indebted to her for her expertise.
