The 8th grade ag class waited patiently for 21 days for their chicks to hatch which they incubated as part of their embryology unit. Through the unit they learned about fertilization of an egg, the developmental stages of the embryos and are now caring for the live chicks as they prepare to sell them next week. Find one of the 8th grade girls to talk about how to add a chick to your flock.

This morning the 7th graders had a wonderful experience getting to watch S.E. Hinton’s classic novel The Outsiders come to life on the stage. The 7th grade just finished reading the novel in Mrs. Seifer’s English class and have been focusing on understanding character development, theme, and author’s purpose throughout the unit. Students even had the opportunity for a special talkback discussion with the actors after the play to understand the story even more. A big thanks to Crane River Theater in partnership with the Merryman Performing Arts Center in Kearney for offering a special student matinee performance of the show and providing a unique way for students to understand literature on a deeper level. 🎭
